twenty four

finally rachael yamagata.
elephants.. teeth sinking into hearts.
her songs about heartbreak. love. life. she personifies the goddess of written heartache vocally evoking emotions kept well hidden from the world. lyrics simple yet convoluted linking to every man in even the most fundamental manner tearing down all the structure that the world had put in place for oneself. vocally her voice resonates travels sinks tears into you. allowing you to forget or at least for that very few minutes where she captivates you in her world of the beauty of imperfection of all of mankind.

a two cd album.
the first.
roads leading from her previous album. happenstance. elephants the first track paves the way of yamagata signature vocals of we have yearned so long for. it lets the vocals shines when everything else fades into the background. transcending what she evokes the soft gritty compassion understated warmth in the blanket of her voice. every single song was worth the wait.. duet is sang by her and ray lamontagne. the harmony the slow dance they play with their voices is one of the best anyone could ask.

the second.
maturing. spreading herself. growing. you can really see why she decided to split it up into a two cd release. its a different growth. her debut as a rock artiste her voice higher beats faster. one may hold their doubts but she pulls it off. and amazingly well at it. she brings herself to another level setting a gritter mood raising the energy levels. in sidedish friends she snaps almost blithely.. I don't want you hanging out with me but I want you when I call..

i could go on describing every single tune but discovery is sometimes best left to your own two feet in some cases. and this is one of them. forget about my biased one sided post. and just soak yourself all that is rachael yamagata.

elephants.

.so for those of you falling in love. keep it kind. keep it good. keep it right. Throw yourself in the midst of danger. but keep one eye open at night.
